Mobile Knowledge Extends Partner Network with Addition of Pingup

Smartphone Booking App Allows Users to Book Taxis, Tables and Takeout with the Click of a Button

Mobile Knowledge and Pingup today announce a partnership to bring Pingup’s innovative Smartphone booking app to the ground transportation industry.

Pingup shortens the distance between the consumer and local businesses via its growing C2B connections platform, allowing users to make salon and spa appointments, reserve a table, order food, and book a taxi from a common, intuitive and feature rich interface. Available for iOS and coming soon to Android devices, the Pingup network is growing daily across the nation.

Ambassador Brattle and Yellow Cab of Cambridge, Massachusetts recently joined the Pingup network, allowing Pingup passengers to self-provision their rides through the Pingup app. Mr. Joseph Silva, President and Owner of Ambassador shared his enthusiasm for Pingup, “Passengers are increasingly turning to new and innovative technologies to help them manage their active schedules. Many apps these days are focused on one service type. Pingup allows users to engage with multiple service categories simultaneously and brings this audience to our members and drivers in a manner that complements rather than competes with our own business.”

Mr. Robert McCarthy, Product Director for Pingup explained the company’s commitment to the transportation sector, “Our users are upwardly mobile professionals in major markets, eager to maximize the hours in their day. Pingup provides them with the means to move quickly and efficiently through their busy lives, leveraging a host of connected businesses and service providers eager to accommodate their needs. Our goal is to provide convenience to our users, and incremental revenues to our growing list of business owners. We are grateful to Mobile Knowledge for facilitating the real-time connections that their protocols provide to a large network of tier-one fleet operators.”

Pingup is dedicated to working with licensed fleets in their respective markets. To learn more about Pingup and how it can benefit your business, please contact Justin Taylor at Tel: (617)-953-1126, Email:, or Web: Pingup will be attending the Taxi Limousine and Paratransit Association’s 95th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Boston, MA, October 27-31, 2013.

Mobile Knowledge Welcomes Luxor Cabs of San Francisco

Luxor Cab Website

Cabmate Dispatch with CMT Next Generation Platform Drives Enhanced Customer Service

Mobile Knowledge is very pleased to welcome Luxor Cabs of San Francisco to its esteemed list of Cabmate clients. Luxor has been a leading provider of transportation services to the City of San Francisco for more than 85 years. Since its inception, Luxor has strived to deliver a premier experience to its corporate accounts and the riding public at large, investing in technology that provides superior customer service for its passengers and operating efficiencies for its drivers.

In recent years, the City of San Francisco has become a proving ground for all types of technologies aimed at connecting passengers with drivers. These range from electronic hitch-hiking to virtual dispatch companies, targeting wealthy travellers able to pay a “bounty” to jump the queue. At the same time, the City of San Francisco has mandated in-vehicle payment, and dispatch technology for its legitimate fleet operators, in a bid to enhance accessibility and availability of the City’s licensed for-hire transportation vehicles.

Luxor’s move to the Mobile Knowledge Cabmate dispatch system is complemented by the company’s installation of the Passenger Information and Payment technology from Creative Mobile Technologies (“CMT”). This in-vehicle equipment includes an 8” Passenger Information Monitor (“PIM”), Driver Information Unit (“DIU”), and PCI certified payment gateway integrated with the vehicle’s taximeter. In addition to facilitating credit card payments, the CMT PIM also allows users of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s paratransit debit card program to swipe their MUNI cards to pay for their rides. The CMT technology is approved by the City of San Francisco, and certified under the State of California Type Evaluation Program, as well as the National Conference of Weights and Measures. The accessibility features for the blind and visually impaired it pioneered (“VIP Mobile”) in conjunction with contributions from advocacy groups including Lighthouse International (, a national not for profit organization dedicated to fighting vision loss through prevention, treatment and empowerment.

The Cabmate dispatch system deployed by Luxor is widely recognized for its capacity to manage tens of thousands of reservations per day, flexible dispatching methods, and advanced feature set including the latest web based Vtrack vehicle tracking portal, customized TaxiHail passenger booking application for Android, iOS and the web, along with SMS technology that alerts passengers when their vehicle has been assigned, and when it has arrived at the pick-up address. Deployed in a fully virtual server environment, Cabmate offers exceptional reliability and redundancy for fleets that operate 24x7x365.

Mr. John Lazar, President of Luxor Cabs commented on this transition, “The City’s recent mandates gave us the opportunity to re-evaluate the technology available for our operations, as well as the partners with whom we will move forward with in the years ahead. Mobile Knowledge and CMT both demonstrated their commitment to our unique marketplace, and the flexibility of their solutions in addressing the City’s regulations as well as our own business requirements.”

Mobile Knowledge President Kevin French reiterated his appreciation for Luxor’s decision. “We take great pride in working with great clients, and Luxor is clearly a leading operator in San Francisco. We are honored to support John and his team in their efforts to re-define customer service in this exciting and dynamic market.”
