Creative Mobile Technologies to use TomTom BRIDGE in taxi fleets across North America

New York, USA– November 17, 2015 – CMT Group, comprised of Creative Mobile Technologies, LLC (CMT) and its affiliates, today announces that it has partnered with TomTom, a global leader in navigation and mapping products, to deploy TomTom BRIDGE in taxi fleets across North America to improve dispatch, monitoring and customer pick up alerts. TomTom BRIDGE is a rugged navigation device built for vehicle fleets that seamlessly connects business applications with TomTom maps, traffic, and navigation software.

By combining CMT Group’s mobile driver apps and taxi metering functionality with the TomTom BRIDGE platform, CMT Group can send destinations directly to the navigation device, display other taxi cab locations on the map, and alert drivers to customer pick up locations. TomTom BRIDGE is also integrated with mobile payment equipment in the taxis, so customers will see real time map and meter data on a large screen.

It includes innovative hardware features such as Near-Field Communication*, an integrated camera*, Wi-Fi (WLAN Connectivity), Bluetooth, a loud speaker for vehicle use, and a custom charging cradle that can be mounted in a wide variety of vehicle configurations.

Mobile Knowledge Extends Partner Network with the Addition of National Booking App Technology

REV Interactive Conference Sets Record Customer Attendance in NYC!

With more than 100 users from over 50 companies in attendance, Creative Mobile Technologies (CMT) and Mobile Knowledge Systems successfully co-hosted its first-ever REV Interactive Advanced User Training Conference on June 17-19, 2015, in New York City.

The three-day event, which offered technical classroom sessions, roundtable discussions, and hands-on training workshops, was held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Long Island City, NY.  Participants were also invited to an Open House at CMT’s new 40,000 square foot world headquarters office complex and garage (located at 42-32 21st Street in Long Island City) which provides 24×7, 365-day service to nearly 8,000 New York City Yellow and Green cabs using CMT’s in-vehicle credit card processing equipment.

The REV Interactive event also offers the perfect setting for CMT/Mobile Knowledge to engage in first-hand “interactive” discussions with its loyal, industry-leading, customer family.  These collaborative, listening and learning sessions provide critical insight into understanding our customers’ operational and technological needs, and determining our next-generation product roadmap going forward.

The conference offered users a look at The Company’s latest product advances in the areas of credit card processing, dispatch, smart phone booking apps, and back office cashiering, and provided an outstanding opportunity for customers to “meet and greet” with CMT and Mobile Knowledge staff, as well as industry colleagues from throughout North America.

For Basil Rudawsky, President of St. Louis County & Yellow Cab Company, the event hit all the right buttons.  “In this time of uncertainty with our industry, the information obtained at this conference re-energized me and helped me understand the direction CMT and Mobile Knowledge are moving to help us succeed,” commented Rudawsky, whose company has served the City of St. Louis since 1935 and boasts a fleet of more than 250 vehicles.

“In order for the taxi industry to compete, we need to embrace and showcase the innovation available, and collaborate amongst our peers to strengthen our service within the industry,” said Vice President Cheryl Horan of Green Cab & Yellow Cab of Somerville (MA), a 93-vehicle dispatch operation that has served the taxi needs of this Boston suburb for over 30 years.  “REV 2015 provided the setting for us to accomplish this.”

Whereas the standard TaxiLinQ is ideally suited to serve as a point of connection for WiFi Tablets, TaxiLinQ Mini is intended for Smartphones and Tablets with integrated GPS and 3G/4G wireless capability. TaxiLinQ Mini connects to these devices via Bluetooth, and can be installed virtually anywhere within the vehicle.

Mr. Chris Plunkett, Mobile Knowledge Director of Product Line Management explained the role of TaxiLinQ Mini, “TaxiLinQ Mini addresses a need within the industry for a lower cost peripheral connection hub. It removes some of the higher cost elements of the standard TaxiLinQ, including WiFi router, GPS receiver, additional USB/RS-232 ports and Ethernet connectivity, for deployments where these may not be required. The result is a lower cost yet highly featured product which our clients and 3rd party developers can take advantage of.”

While available with an optional 50-channel GPS receiver, the TaxiLinQ Mini typically relies upon the GPS capabilities of the connected Smartphone or Tablet. It provides a dedicated USB charging port for Tablets, able to deliver up to 2.1Amps of charging power, and supports the proprietary charging requirements of the Google Nexus and many Samsung,  Motorola and other manufacturer’s Tablets. The two standard USB ports each deliver up to 1.0Amps of current for peripherals including the iPP320/350 Point of Sale device for in-vehicle Credit Card processing.

In addition to its USB connectivity, TaxiLinQ Mini provides two RS-232 ports, Ignition Sense, Panic Button, Odometer Counter, and discreet Taximeter connections. The ignition sense tracks the state of the vehicle , and the discreet meter connection tracks availability of the For-Hire vehicle.

Mobile Knowledge is pleased to extend its sincerest congratulations to Eastside For Hire for its remarkable growth over the past two years. From an initial fleet size of 70 cars in October of 2011, Eastside has recently topped 265 vehicles.

Eastside is licensed as a For-Hire company rather than a conventional Taxi operator. As such, vehicles are not equipped with taximeters. Instead, they rely upon pre-arranged, Zipcode-to-Zipcode or Landmark-based pricing. The eXpert Dispatch System supports this mode of operation by way of an advanced Price Engine. The Price Engine can be configured for Zipcode, Zone, Landmark and Distance rates, with additional facilities to apply and manage extra charges such as waiting time, additional stops, tolls, etc. as required.

Another point of distinction between taxis and for-hire vehicles is that outside of the City of Seattle, the latter are only permitted to respond to trips that are booked ahead of time. These reservations depend upon a strong dispatch system with advanced functionality to ensure that the best vehicle and driver are matched to each trip.
