Mobile Knowledge Achieves PTCRB Certification Series 9000 MDT Deployment on GPRS Wireless Networks

Ottawa, Canada, September 1, 2007 - Mobile Knowledge today announced receipt of Certification from the PCS Type Certification Review Board ("PTCRB") for the Series 9000 Mobile Data Terminal. When equipped with an internal General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) radio modem, the Series 9000 family of MDTs comes under the mandate of the PTCRB as a GSM Mobile Equipment device.

The purpose of the PTCRB is to provide the framework within which GSM Mobile Equipment (ME) Type Certification can take place for members of the PTCRB. This includes, but is not limited to, determination of the test specifications and methods to implement the Type Certification process for GSM Mobile Equipment. This group will also be responsible to generate input regarding testing of Mobile Stations to standards development organizations.

Achieving this certification allows carriers to sign GPRS data plans and issue SIM cards for the Series 9000 with confidence knowing that the MDT will interact with their wireless infrastructure according to collective PTCRB standards.

The Series 9000 MDT with integrated GPRS modem minimizes the number of devices and cabling required within the vehicle reducing the risk of tampering and failure. Installations are fast and clean. The SIM carriage accessible from the back of the Series 9000 is typically covered when installed inside the vehicle, providing greater security against theft or unauthorized use.

An increasing number of companies are looking to the public carriers in place of conventional VHF and UHF licensed spectrum. Advantages of the Public Data Networks such as GPRS include:

Availability - VHF and UHF frequencies are becoming increasingly difficult to secure in large cities. Further, co-channel interference and other potential challenges associated with conventional channels may recommend the Public Data network for new fleets.

Bandwidth - GPRS provides dramatically higher bandwidth than conventional radio, operates at speeds of up to 115 Kbps. GPRS channels are equally well suited for sending small packets of information (i.e. meter status & position updates) or larger amounts of data (i.e. firmware updates or log files).

Coverage -GPRS networks provides extensive service coverage across virtually all population centers within North America, Europe and the rest of the World.

The testing of the Series 9000 in its various configurations was conducted by Cetecom Inc. of Milpitas, California. For additional information, the details of the certification are available at the PTCRN website, www.pctrb.com.
