Mobile Knowledge Series 9006/9008 Software Taximeter Granted Type Approval by National Conference on Weights & Measures
Ottawa, Canada, October 25, 2007 - Mobile Knowledge is pleased to announce that it has been certified by the National Conference on Weights & Measures for the Series 9000 family of Mobile Data Terminal with integrated Taximeter functionality. The optional Taximeter feature available with the Series 9000 includes hardware and software configured at time of manufacture. This integrated solution reduces the number of devices that must be installed within the vehicle and enhances the accuracy and reporting capabilities of the Cabmate and eXpert Dispatch System call center applications used by many For-Hire feet operators around the world. Certification of Taximeter technology is required in many countries and jurisdictions in order to control quality, accuracy, and reliability. In the US, the National Conference on Weights & Measures works in partnership with the Office of Weights and Measures of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to validate the compliance of Taximeters and other measuring devices to the rigorous standards as defined within the NIST Handbook 44 (2007 Edition) and NCWM publication 14 (2007 Edition).
